Project ChildSafe

Concealed Carry

On April 8, 2004, H.B. 12 went into effect allowing citizens to carry concealed weapons once they meet certain requirements. Each Sheriff in the State is entrusted with the duties to issue permits to those individuals who apply for and qualify to carry a concealed weapon.

Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver uses state-of-the-art technology in assisting those who care for victims of Alzheimer’s and other Related Mental Dysfunctional Disorders (ARMD) and victims who become lost.  These victims include the elderly and even the youngest who are afflicted with Down’s Syndrome and Autism.

A parental notification system operated by the Hocking County Sheriff's Office to help reduce the number of young drivers involved in motor vehicle accidents.

In Ohio, the age group with the highest fatality rate are
16 - 20 year olds.  The same age group also represents the highest rate in injury and property accidents.

The Hocking County Sheriff's Office offers parents this voluntary notification system to extend their watchful eyes and raise the awareness of drivers under the age of twenty-one.

Hocking County Sheriff Lanny North is pleased to announce the appointment of Deputy Jeremy Dye as D.A.R.E. officer for the sheriff’s office. Deputy Dye, Hocking County’s first D.A.R.E. officer, presented his D.A.R.E. program to 5th grade elementary students in the Logan-Hocking School District on January 16, 2007.
